5 Things to Do When You’re Stuck in the House

Hey guys! It’s been a minute since I’ve been on the blog. I took a year off to refocus and get some new ideas and inspiration.  I’m back and excited to share some new content with you all.

 

Where do I begin? This year has been a challenging one to say the least.  Between the death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter, and the Coronavirus Pandemic, it’s literally felt like being under water.  If you have ever been in that position you know what I mean. When you’re underwater the biggest thing you want to do is eventually come up for air.  At some point your body physically won’t allow you to stay there. When you finally do get some relief and can breathe it’s the most amazing feeling. Well this year has felt like the opposite of that.  It seems like we get over one thing and something else comes to knock us down. Like you just can’t find a place to come up for air.  

The most difficult part of it all is being required to stay inside for a long period of time.  I don’t know about you, but cabin fever is a real thing! I’m not saying it’s Jack Nicholson in “The Shining” bad, but it has been a little bit intense here and there.  Being at home makes you get very creative and find ways to not lose your mind.

Here are 5 things you can do when you’re stuck at home. 

Try New Recipes

Whether it’s by yourself or with the kids, spending time in the kitchen is so much fun.  There are so many fun recipes to try. Pinterest is my go-to for new ideas and things to make by myself or with my kiddies.  I’ve gotten lucky over the years and found several things that have become something I make at least once a month.

 

Virtual Online Museum Tours

I discovered this a few weeks ago.  Some of the most famous museums in the world offer virtual tours. Travel and Leisure has a great article with all of the different museums and their links.   I love art and history so this was perfect for me. The best part is, you don’t leave the comfort of your home.  You can stay in your bed and your pajamas and learn about history, culture and art! Best of all, it’s free! SIGN ME UP PLEASE.

Exercise

Exercise has so many amazing benefits! Not only will you feel better and have more energy, but it is a great stress reliever.  So if cabin fever starts to creep in on you taking a walk or doing some dance aerobics will get those endorphins kicking in and you’ll feel a whole lot better.  Not to mention, it will help burn some of those calories you ate from being bored. 

 

Create

When you can’t go anywhere, there is no better time to create something.  Actually having the time to sit down and brain dump. It’s amazing what is inside of us just waiting to come out, but we don’t intentionally take the time to get still and think.  The next great idea or technology could be one brainstorm away. Take that time that you have to “kill” and come up with something that could change your life or someone else’s life for the better.

Nothing

One thing I have learned with this social distancing and ‘staying home’ is that it is absolutely okay to do NOTHING!  Taking the time to rest and recharge and enjoy the people you love the most. Isn’t it funny that when we are going through life and we’re so busy, the thing we long for is a vacation and a chance to just rest? Then when we finally have the opportunity to do that we feel like we have to be doing something.  I mean how often in life will you have the chance to not really have to go anywhere, why not take advantage of it?

 

This has been a crazy time in the world, but I am determined to make the best of it.  Give some of these things a try and stay safe and healthy guys!
